This is my big year; I’m attending NECC for the first time. I think I’m more excited about meeting people face to face than I am about the sessions, workshops, vendors, etc. There are many bloggers I am eager to meet. Others I know from Twitter. Of course, given the thousands of people that attend, I wonder how many people I’ll actually run into.
I do have some other goals related to NECC…
- Look for professional development models that are working.
- Look for tech integration models that are working, exploring both the process and the hardware requirements.
- Look for ways to help my staff find powerful uses for their IWBs.
- Visit Second Life. (Anyone want to bring me in and show me around?)

My first NECC also: I could have written this posting! I agree with every single word…except for SL. Not quite sure I’m ready for that, yet.

I have been fortunate to attendprevious NECCs in Chicago (2001), New Orleans (2004) and Philadelphia (2005). All were excellent and great fun. Eating local food and focusing on getting 1-2 new ideas are the keys (for me). It’s tempting to bring back 200 pounds of stuff but I’m better now and can escape with only a few pounds of paper and a couple of shirts. Looking forward to seeing 20,000 of you shortly!
This will be my first NECC as well, both as presenter and attendee. I’m so excited I can’t seem to concentrate on ANYTHING! And we still have a week and a half of school left in NY!
If you want to get into SL before NECC let me know. The DEN in SL holds workshops every Wednesday and ISTE has great Socials every Thursday. I’m Laelia Laval in SL.

Hi Susan, it will be the first time for me too, and I can’t wait to meet you irl. It is a great idea for a post and you can see I followed your idea. My goals are to use the time to reflect on what is going on at my school while I’m in the company of like minded people. What a great dea of Lee’s. To write your twitter name on your NECC name badge. I think that’ll catch on! I’ll be doing it.
This is my first time also. I chose to come in on Friday to go to the Edublogger conference. I am anxious to meet all of the people that I have been reading.
My main focus is to look for collaborative projects for my students. We need to reach out beyond our school.
